Now, most service providers provide a smart forwarding system which can redirect phone calls to a different number, if your VoIP phone system is not responding. So now any incoming call can be transferred to an alternate number such as a traditional phone line or your cell phone number. In addition, the vast majority of providers now have E-911 service which allows 911 calls through VoIP to function just as the current system, including providing the caller's location to 911 operators.

Cost savings with VoIP

The most important answer to the question of "why use VoIP" is the cost comparison. Traditional phone service providers give only a limited selection of packages for commercial or residential use, and typically add additional fees for every feature, such as additional phone numbers or calling features like caller ID or call waiting. In addition, they are required to add government taxes and fees.

So why use VoIP instead? VoIP providers offer a huge variety of plans, where individual features can be customized by the end user, so you can pick and choose a plan according to the most common type of calls you make. On most plans, long distance and international rates are very affordable, and the choice of area code can make many of your calls local. Calling features are included in the price, and there are no mandatory taxes or fees. All of these points should clarify the doubts that make you ask "why use VoIP phone services?"
