If you overcharge, the efficiency of the batteries will also be affected. Of course, the talk time and the charging time will be affected.

When buying a cellular phone battery, your usage should be taken into consideration. Are you always busy, that you don't have the time to charge? Do you talk too much on the phone? So if you don't have ample time to charge, these types of batteries are suitable for you, although, they cost more. These are the Lithium ion batteries. Other batteries are even solar powered! You can charge them by basking them in the sun, these are also costly, and does not cater to all brands and mobile phone makes. Also, if you are very busy, you might consider buying 2 to 3 batteries.
