Greatest Weight Gains and Losses in 2007

Paris Hilton gains weight?! Say it isn't so! But just this week, photos were revealed of the hotel heiress and socialite that belied her usually oh-so-skinny self. With new brunette tresses and a long brown print dress to match the wig, her bared arms appeared positively flabby and her midsection didn't look nearly as trim.

Hillary Duff is far too young still and too much a newcomer to the scene to be having “is she gaining?” articles written about her, but its true! The young actress looks positively healthy, but we all know that “healthy” in Hollywood may as well be a four letter word. We think she looks great, and without the baby fat of her younger days.

Alicia Silverstone is a thin, gorgeous blonde who also happens to be a vegetarian. Even vegetarians get cellulite, though, I guess. We knew that Britney Spears had cellulite, with no excuse for it whatsoever given her age. Helen Hunt and Valerie Bertinelli were spotted on the beach this summer flaunting the cottage cheese on their legs, but they are of a more cellulite-prone age. While thankfully there was no visible cellulite, apparently the weight gain is not limited to our favorite females; Danny DeVito, who was never svelte to begin with, has apparently put on a few more pounds.

On the flip side, Kate Bosworth is on the exceedingly side of skinny these days. Always tiny, this girl goes from waif-like to barely there on a regular basis. Lately, though, you can see not only her clavicles and shoulder blades but every single notch in her bony chest.

You can always tell when a woman is getting dangerously skinny. Her head looks ridiculously out of proportion with the rest of her body. Such was the case with Nicole Richie before her pregnancy, and with both of the Olsen twins at some point. Now, Paris Hilton's little sister Nicky is looking the same way - scary skinny. For the first time, her head appears far too large for her diminishing frame. Silly, because here's a girl who had absolutely nothing wrong with her body before she decided to starve herself. Now, she looks disproportionate and odd.

Who has made the biggest drops or gains of all? Certainly, everyone knows about the Jenny Craig sponsor Kirstie Alley and her amazing drop in weight this year. This has to be at the all-time top of the list. Another great accomplishment was achieved by Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was never fat but is now positively stunning. Courtney Love has lost a frightening amount of weight over this past year; or is she just frightening?

Gisele Bundchen, a supermodel - perhaps THE supermodel - an entire fifteen pounds heavier? Yep. She quit smoking, probably because of new boyfriend and professional football player Tom Brady, and rumor has it that the weight gain is totaling about fifteen pounds so far since giving up the smokes.

All of these stars have one thing in common: the fluctuation. They will each individually lose and gain about 20 pounds within a year, if for no other reason than to make headlines and keep people like you and me interested. Sometimes the weight gain or loss is necessary for a movie role. More often than not, though, it is the latest diet craze, exercise fad, stress of life in the fast lane or just plain stupidity that causes it.
