Nine Month ClickBank Experiment

I have received a lot of queries through forums as well as through emails asking about the best way to make money online? Most of the answers to those queries often refer to affiliate marketing as the best way to do it. Affiliate marketing is where a company pays you a percentage of the profit on every sale that you bring them. Many people prefer Affiliate marketing as they do not have to create anything or deal with anyone. But lacking a firm approach, many of those who had attempted this have failed.

The biggest affiliate network online is Clickbank.com, it has over 10,000 downloadable products such as online books, ebooks as well as software. Many have tried and received nothing but frustration while trying to make money with Clickbank. I was intrigued by the whole thing so I decided to carry out my own test with it starting from March, 2007. The progress was slow in the beginning but by the end of 2007, I had managed to make roughly about $8,200 with Clickbank. By the end of the year, I was making somewhere around $1,200/month in commissions. Going with that estimate, I think that I would be making about twenty to thirty thousand dollars in Clickbank earnings alone, by this time next year.

My main reason for this experiment was that I wanted to find a way to make money online without resorting to any email lists or spending a lot of time. At the most, I spend about thirty minutes a day on my Clickbank , so as you can see, anyone can do this , the only trick is in doing it right.
In order to start making money there are a few things that you have to do right. To start with, find out what are the best selling products since there is no point in promoting ones that do not sell. Next, I created a simple webpage that reviewed the product that I was promoting; in this case, it was a weight loss related product, one that I was already interested in. After which, see if you can become an affiliate for a product that you are interested in, this way you should face no difficulties in writing about it. Then I wrote a rather interesting review along with a story about this ebook concerning weight loss. After which, I put a highly visible link to the products website at the end of the review, so that the reader if interested could go ahead and place an order for that ebook. If possible, you can always give the reader a bonus for ordering the ebook through your site like a reduced price tag. This way, you would be providing an incentive for the reader to order the book through your affiliate link. The very last thing left for you to do is to bring some traffic to the webpage with your review on it.

The best way to get traffic to your website is by using pay per click methods. This is an advertising method and the best PPC Company is Google Adwords, this is what I used for my Clickbank experiment. I had set up a Google Adwords campaign for my affiliate product that is for the weight loss ebook and set the bids to 30 cents per click. Which translates as 'for every person that clicks through to my webpage, I would not pay them more than 30 cents'.

The keywords form the very important piece of this puzzle, the keywords that your visitors will use to get to your website. Keywords are the words that you would type in the search engine when searching for something. The search engine that Adwords works with is none other than Google.com. So whenever a person types in the very keywords that I am currently bidding on, my ad will pop up to the right side of the page depending on the rate that I bid for those keywords. The thing to do here is to either bid on the product name, words with the product name or something very specific. To show you, say my product is named "overnight weight loss genie", then my keywords would be "overnight weight loss genie"," overnight weight loss genie review"," overnight weight loss genie program" and etc. I would not use too generic a name like "weight loss" as they are too common and my money would be wasted.

So my progress after having run the above ad campaign for about 16 hours was an expenditure of $1.60 in advertising and a cool profit of $30 by way of commission. After that I went on to create some 100 different pages all dealing with different affiliate products. That is how I am able to make a cool $1,200 per month.
