Remove Spyware From Microsoft Windows

By: Isaiah Henry

Spyware and adware, which are two similar, yet very different kinds of malware, are a real plague for users. Adware is software, which once installed on your system, displays popups even when you are disconnected from the Internet. Spyware is the more dangerous type of malware, because it monitors your activities and collects personal information about you, which later it sends to its authors. The information spyware collects about you can vary from a list of the sites you have visited recently to social security and credit card numbers to passwords.

Stealing information is not the only crime of spyware. It also makes your computer work slowly and in many cases it might stop working at all. Spyware also affects other programs you have installed on your computer i.e. Internet Explorer. If you think that since you have an anti-virus program on your computer you are on the safe side, think again. Anti-virus programs deal with viruses, which are different from adware and spyware and because of that anti-virus programs, unless they have special anti-adware and anti-spyware functionality, cant protect you against adware and spyware. So, before you get an anti-virus program, make sure that it can protect you not only against viruses, but against adware and spyware. Some of the programs you might want to try are Norton AntiVirus 2004 (or newer) Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2004, or McAfee VirusScan.

Does your computer crash all the time under the burden of spyware? Do you see ads, ads, ads? If you do, then you most likely have caught spyware and/or adware and it is needless to say that you should get rid of it asap. The tools, which can help you do it are all the great anti-spyware and anti-adware programs you can download from the Internet. It is up to you to decide whether you will go for a free or for a paid program but have in mind that almost always paid programs are worth the money.

One of the doorways through which spyware and adware sneak into your computer are free downloads. It is supposed that the programs you download do not have such nasties but sometimes, when you dont bother to read the license agreement, you just let them in. Yes, it is written in the license agreement that if you install the free software, you agree to install some additional components (i.e. adware and spyware) as well. Pop-up blockers help, especially against adware. The toolbars MSN and Google offer are among the best tools for blocking popup windows. Another way for adware and spyware to enter your system is when you click on a suspicious link, so avoid doing this as well.

If you use the Internet a lot, you cant survive without a good adware and spyware removal program. These programs do not only remove the pests but they also prevent them from entering your system. Downloading such programs is easy and cheap but never get such tools from unreliable sites.

There are many free anti-adware and anti-spyware programs on the Net, which can help you a lot in your fight with adware and spyware. These programs can also protect you for being infected, so they are really valuable.
