It goes like this: You choose a topic (hopefully one that could possibly tie-in with a product that you may have to offer); you write or buy an article; you embed advertisements, again in the form of hyperlinks, in the article; you submit the article to article directories; this increases traffic to your website. The reason that this works is that everybody is an expert at something. On the internet, there are millions of people looking for expert advice on every topic under the sun. Article submission/directory sites have millions and millions of visitors every day. Everyday this leads to millions of sales, and millions of dollars. It’s also mainly free.

Of course, there are many other methods to generate traffic to your websites. There are professional services for online advertising just as there are services for offline advertising. Blogging and article submission/directory service sites are a few very powerful techniques for traffic development, and let’s not forget: they’re free!
