Using Voip Service To Save A Ton Of Money

By: Jay Anderson

Why should you have VOIP service? Well, the answer to that is simple, it just makes sense. It is affordable, easy to use, and is so much less complicated than your traditional telephone service and in this article we will tell you why. The first thing you should know about VOIP service is that it is so much cheaper than your traditional phone line.

For just a simple line, without features, you are looking at no less than around $30 a month, depending on your provider. This is just for the line. This does not include all the features that you want. Then if you really want features, you might be looking at a $60 a month or higher phone bill. Who really wants to pay that kind of money for telephone service when you can get it cheaper?

Now compare what you get with VOIP services for just a fraction of the cost of a phone line from the phone company. You get a very complete feature set, usually included unlimited local and long distance calling in the continental US for about $25 a month, and with some carriers, even less, as low as under $17 a month.

One of the primary questions that many people have is whether or not they can have their same phone number on their VOIP service, and the answer is yes. You have been paying that little LNP fee on your phone bill (Local Number Portability) for years and years, and here is where that is going to pay off for you.

Some VOIP carriers also include some advanced features such as call transfer, distinctive ring tones, phone-to-PC abilities, busy redial, speed dialing, and more. Sometimes these cost extra but the extra cost is far less than what your phone company charges for those same extra services and feature set.

VOIP service uses your high speed Internet connection to make and receive phone calls, and since you very likely already have a high speed Internet connection, why not use it since you are already paying for it. Some Internet providers such as your DSL or cable company may also offer VOIP but frequently the price is much higher for the service, so you should be sure to shop around to get the best deal for your needs.

There are many different service plans available for VOIP service, ranging from very limited calling at a very low price to a feature-packed system with unlimited calling, sometimes even including international calling. Be sure to find out what is available and decide what features you need before you start shopping so you know what to watch for.

It is important to use the internet to your advantage. Do some comparison shopping. Take a look at the different packages offered and determine which companies offer you the most for the best price. Don't end up paying for features you will never use or need.
