Your Coffee Shop Can Serve More Than Coffee

By: Karyn Lewis

Enjoy your coffee shop to relax as well as to enjoy great drinks. If you only show up there on your way to work you may not see it in the same light. You may be pushed for time to get your morning coffee and still clock in before the boss does so you can get your day started. Most of us are very busy but if you can take some time for yourself in the afternoon then your coffee shop can offer you a great place to relax.

I discovered this quite by accident once when I wanted to meet with the dad of one of my daughter's friends. We decided a mutual location like the coffee shop would be the best place for us to get to know each other. He was late and so I had some time to relax and enjoy my drink all alone. I quickly found it to be a place I wanted to go back to several times a week just to have some time to unwind.

In my book, the money I spend for afternoon coffee and to relax in the atmosphere is money well spent. It definitely improves my mood and that tends to keep my entire family happier. Sometimes I go to a different coffee shop just depending on where In am in town. If I am in a certain mood the decor of one may appeal to me more than others.

I love to just relax and let time go by as I sit in the coffee shop and read some quality material. Other times I watch the other people busily walking by outside of the coffee shop. I appreciate the fact that I am able to relax for that bit of time instead of rushing around with them. Sometimes I will jot down ideas for work or write letters but for the most part I just steer clear of anything that has to do with work while I am in this type of environment.

Hanging out at a coffee shop isn't just something I do alone either. It is a great place to meet a friend to catch up. Sometimes my husband and I will go to one an hour before the kids get out of school. It gives us time to relax and talk without distractions or interruptions. We can have a serious talk or just laugh and enjoy each others company for a while.

If you have a local coffee shop you should step in and see if it has the same relaxing feel to it for you. Just walk in, order a drink, and find a table where you will be comfortable. You may notice people in there around the same time each day if you are going to stick with a regular routine for going to the coffee shop. It may be an everyday thing for you or just something you do once in a while when you have the time.

Of course you can benefit from the short lines and great tasting drinks when you go to a coffee shop to relax during off peak times. Many coffee shops as have drink specials so you can save money as well. You just might find this is one place you enjoy hanging out and spending some of your free time on a regular basis.

While you can definitely go to a coffee shop in the morning for your fix to get your day started, don't forget it is there later on. You may find that spending even 30 minutes at the local coffee shop before you head home can help you make the transition from work to your home life. It can help you to reduce the stress in your life and focus on what you have to look forward to that evening.
