The legislation, supported by Democrats and Republicans, would allow individuals and pharmacies to order drugs from 19 countries. Supporters of the bills point out that Canadians pay about 60 percent less for their medication than Americans, according to a study by the Canadian government. But the president of the pharmaceutical industry's lobbying group says there are "better, safer alternatives," to get affordable drugs to patients.
