Leonardo da Vinci: Leonardo's Animals Part 1 of 2 Throughout the mid to late 1470s, Leonardo worked on a series of different studies relating to the theme of the Madonna and the Christ Child, holding a cat. It was originally thought that no paintings existed beyond his initial studies for these paintings. Recently; however, "Madonna with the Cat" was discovered to be an authentic painting by Leonardo.The painting is based on a legend about a cat being born at the same moment as the baby Jesus. Dogs Playing Poker: Beyond Art, Behind Coolidge C. M. Coolidge, known for his "poker playing dogs", was a brilliant man with innovative ideas and an entrepreneurial instinct about art. Coolidge created 16 paintings of dogs - seven that portrayed dogs playing pool. The other nine were dogs surrounding a poker table. After his success with painting dogs, a new idea provided him a profitable income. He started the invention of Comic Foregrounds.
